Beauty and the Beast with a twist | My WIP Reveal

I’m super excited to reveal a little more about my current WIP–and even more excited to have everyone play a game with me!! “Befriending the Beast” was supposed to be a short story. First draft (very, very rough draft) was 19 Microsoft Word pages, 7,800 words. Yesterday in the edits, I added 1,000 words and am adding more plot depth. How many of you want to guess how long this “short story” willΒ end up being? I have no clue what the right answer will be until it’s finished. But it’s fun to guess, isn’t it? And added to that, if your guess is close to the end result I’ll send you a paperback!!! Ready… Set… Guess!!

  1. I'm guessing 19,300 words. I love fairy tales told in a new way. I look forward to reading it when you're finished. God bless!

  2. How cool! I am attempting to write a fairytale retelling also, about Rapunzel. Not attempting very zealously at the moment, but I hope it will be finished someday πŸ˜‰ —Libby

  3. This sounds interesting! I am going to guess 23,357 words. A little far-fetched? πŸ™‚ I looked at your 'Befriending the Beast' Pintrest page–it is really cool! How, exactly do you search for inspiration on there without coming up with a bunch of bad pictures? Or do you just kind of have to skim through to find the good ones? I recently discovered the idea of looking for character inspiration on Pintrest (what a good one!) but am a little scared to search much on account of what could easily come up. On the other hand, I came up with another idea (More for character inspiration–not exactly scenery) of looking at photographer's websites for portraits, etc. I actually found one of my story character's that way recently–well, I found the picture and then lady became one of the main figures in a new story plot. It is very helpful! I hope 'Befriending the Beast' turns out to be an awesome book πŸ™‚ Blessins,Jewelswww.myjoyfuljourneywithjesus.blogspot.com

  4. @ Jewels – it is VERY true that it's easy to stumble across vile images on Pinterest. I do some skimming, but I have found that if I find different boards from other authors, then what comes up on my newsfeed is more \”censored\” and it's kind of what I like. I'll also find one image (like a castle), and click on it to see what else in on that pinner's board. So yeah… there are ways to be more careful! πŸ™‚ Finding photographer's works helps as well! πŸ˜€ And also, I just got the \”brilliant\” idea – hey, why don't I look around my church and describe these people! πŸ˜‰
