The Secret Slipper — coming soon!

This last week has been great! I mean, I was down almost every day sick BUT that gave me time to edit Slipper and work on formatting it. So…we have a release date!

That’s exactly one month from today! I’m so, so, so excited!!! This has been so very long overdue (in my opinion) and you all have been such a wonderful encouragement to me in the writing and editing process. I appreciate you all so very much!!
If you haven’t already, “The Secret Slipper” can be added to your Goodreads list (as an author, adding it to your to-read list, even if you’re not going to read it for a year is very helpful!).
And if you want the opportunity to READ “The Secret Slipper,” the sign-up for blog tour and review reading is up now. Sign up here! And if you have friends who like to blog or read, go ahead and send them there too. I’m so ready to share Lia’s journey with everyone!

Keep your eye open on Tuesdays at my personal blog. I’m bursting to share even more about Lia and Raoul with you all.

Journey of Choice 011

Time for more quotes! One of the things that I “dreaded” the most about writing Choice was the battle scenes. I’m not so sure I’m doing a swell job with the rough draft, but it’s coming. In fact… I think I like writing fighting scenes!

The following quote about the Hornet’s Nest is true history. A regiment is supposed to be 1,000 men. From what I’ve researched, The 18th Missouri never really reached full strength. But after the Hornet’s Nest, there were only about 300 men left in the regiment who were not killed or captured.

*spoiler alert* Yes, one of my characters that is close to Nat ends up captured by the confederates in this chapter! 🙂

It’s Here! Befriending the Beast

Wow. How did I get here? When I think back to that one question…

It was just going to be a short story. And, it was just going to be “an idea for sometime.” Within three months (THREE MONTHS!), the Lord had given me time, ideas, and help to make one question into a novella and published. Wow! I’m seriously overwhelmed here, y’all!
First things first. A few weeks back, I had a little guessing game, for how many words would end up in Belle’s story. I didn’t know what this number would end up being, and it was such a blast to see over fifty people join in the fun! My personal guesstimation was that Befriending the Beast would end up being 14,000 words. I was one of the closer guessers (no, this wasn’t on purpose), but several people guessed even closer to the final word count than I did.
So, what was the final word count? According to Microsoft Word…
14,409!!
The closest guesser was Eliza Noel! She guessed 14,389 words and will get a paperback copy of Befriending the Beast. Runner-up was Alicia Ruggieri, who guessed 13,372 words, and will receive an eBook.
Yep, about double my original word count. 🙂
But, maybe you’ve not heard anything about the story yet. So let’s move on to Belle…

In case you can’t watch the trailer, here’s about the book:
Belle has returned unannounced to the castle to restore her relationship with the
king, her father. Her hopes are dashed with the devastating message: “The
king refuses to see you.” Convinced that God has led her home, she is
unwilling to return to Lord and Lady Kiralyn.
Timemis running out for the decision that will change her life. When tragedy
strikes, will she and her father be pulled further apart or knit together?
Could she stay at the castle even if she will never see her father again?

And, as I like all things reduced-prized and free, here’s two things I don’t want you to miss out on!

1) Reduced price!

2) Giveaway! (of course)

U.S. Giveaway: Enter to win one of two paperback copies of “Befriending the
Beast”
International Giveaway: Enter to win one of two eBook copies of “Befriending the
Beast”
One last thing: if you’re on FaceBook, author Faith Blum and I are joining together to have a super fun party this afternoon (2-4 Central Time) to celebrate the releases of our new works. Of course you’re invited to join us, if you’re on FB!

“Befriending the Beast” cover reveal

I am super excited and thrilled to be able to show everyone my cover for “Befriending the Beast!” To be honest, I designed the cover before the first draft of the story was completed. 😉

Be on the lookout for “Befriending the Beast’s” release! Or … just mark your calendars for September 30!

Oh yeah, that’s right. You’re probably more interested in a new book cover than in my jabbering (because, after all, I like drooling over covers more than reading someone’s exuberance almost any day too 😉 )…

*drumroll*

May I present to you ….

Befriending the Beast

About the Book

Belle has returned unannounced to the castle to restore her relationship with the king, her father. Her hopes are dashed with the devastating message: “The king refuses to see you.” Convinced that God has led her home, she is unwilling to return to Lord and Lady Kiralyn. But will the king offer her any other choice?

Time is running out and she has a life-changing decision to make. When tragedy strikes, will she and her father be pulled further apart or knit together? Could she stay at the castle even if she will never see her father again?

Write a Story Challenge

For the first time, I’m trying something new: a story challenge on Instagram. It’s where you write 1-3 sentences a day with a word as the theme. Besides almost continually being behind … it’s been a fun thinkless challenge (okay, maybe not quite “thinkless” but close 😉 ). If you’re on IG, you can follow me @amandateroauthor. However, I know how it is to NOT be on IG and be “out of the loop,” so here’s my story up to today – day eight. I don’t have a title, but it’s life from the eyes of a toddler.

This week’s interview swap with Claire Banschbach

This week, I had a fun interview swap with author Claire M. Banschbach.

Find out how she balances writing and life and how she created her own world for The Rise of Aredore series: http://withajoyfulnoise.blogspot.com/2016/06/claire-banschbach-author-interview-and.html

Then, if you’d like to read her interview of me (in which you’ll discover how I find music and writing are similar), visit her blog: https://clairembanschbach.wordpress.com/2016/06/30/composing-stories/comment-page-1/#comment-2597

Cover Design

Okay, so I realize that this veers away from my normal writing updates, but since cover design is kind of part of my writing business, why not?

I’m copying this from my personal blog (in case you follow both and find it droll that it’s double-posted… sorry! 😉 ).

Have you ever had those times when you just wanted to do something, so randomly prayed, “Lord, I realize I don’t have to do this, but it’d be nice if…” That was me a few weeks ago. Since all of my writing projects are in the baby-stages of planning and writing, I’ve not had a reason to do one of my favorite hobbies: book cover designing. So, I prayed that, if the Lord saw fit, He’d bless me with the opportunity to design a book cover for someone.

Not even a week after that, I beta-read a book by a Goodreads friend, The Silent Blade. Long story short, we ended up discussing covers and such and she hired me to design her cover! I had so much fun going back and forth, getting to know Jesseca and what she liked, AND finding out that a church-member had a sword for me to photograph! (you never know what happens when you post on FaceBook, “Does anyone have…?”) I am very grateful that the Lord allowed me to come up with a cover that Jesseca loves. That makes it completely worth it for me!

Okay, okay, some of you probably skimmed over all of that so you could see the cover (because, after all, if you’re like me, looking at covers is one of the best things ever!). Here it is!

And the full cover:

For those of you who love reading, The Silent Blade will be releasing on July 22, 2016. I may post about it on my blog, but in case not, Jesseca surely will post about it on her blog, so follow her there!

What’s a prayer that God answered for you recently?
