Who likes a good Robin Hood story? I have both hands in the air! I have loved Robin Hood since I was little. When I was praying about book three in the Tales of Faith series, I decided to veer away from fairytales and go with good ol’ Robin Hood. My character who plays this role is none other than Dumphey, from “The Secret Slipper.”
Before “Protecting the Poor” can be published though, I need a few beta readers (or pre-readers).
What are beta readers? I’m glad you asked. 😉 The technical beta-reading “responsibility” is to monitor the flow of the story and let me know the “feel” of character development. However, I don’t mind if beta readers point out typos or things that just don’t make sense (E.g. Does it bring up any questions you feel unanswered? Does it feel like there are any gaps in the story? Something that wasn’t clearly explained? Something that seems too repetitive?)
Now that you know what a beta reader is, you know what you might be getting yourself into. 😉 There is a slight hitch, though. I work best with a team of about ten beta readers. This means that I have to pick and choose. 😛 I hate having to do that, but… if you don’t make it for the beta reading team, there is always the review team coming up in the future, Lord willing!
Sign up for the beta reading team here.
Have you read my summer releases yet?
I am still ecstatic that the Lord allowed me to release two short stories this summer! (AND finish writing the rough draft of “Protecting the Poor”–it’s been a great summer of writing!)
I am open to five more reviewers for both “Finding Christmas Joy” and “Quest for Leviathan.” If you’d like to review either of these (click on the titles to read their blurb and what reviewers already have to say), just email me at amandaterobooks(at)gmail(dot)com! First five will get a free e-copy to review!

What excitement are you celebrating this week?
It’s that time!! The book trailer for “The Secret Slipper” has now aired!!!! I’m so excited to be sharing more about this upcoming book with you!
It was last week sometime that I realize… I have so not been posting on here! *insert frantic face* I am SOOO sorry!!
If you want to stay most faithfully updated, I am active on my FB Street Team and Instagram. I know that I had originally started this blog as an “off-FB” type of street team… but it has been too hard to juggle all of my social accounts. My sincerest apologies.
So, this lovely Friday afternoon, I shall update you all!
Slippers is in the midst of a cover reveal!! Here’s the latest…
Each puzzle piece reveal had a quote to go with it, so either look on my blog or Instagram to see them all!
I’m about to sit down at do some serious last-edit stuff with Slippers. I don’t have a specific release date yet.
Also on the writing…
I’ve got a March goal!
This, I’m daily (or mostly daily) updated on Instagram or FB. As of last night, I’m at 3436 of 7500! So grateful to the Lord for allowing me writing time! Oh yeah, what project? Sorry… you can’t know yet. 😉
Also on my desk is Journey of Choice. I set it aside for a few months and read a few books about how to write a NOVEL (who knew? It’s way different than writing a novella). I was going to focus on it for March, but then I remembered Slippers. That’s kind of important to get out there soonish. 😉
So, that’s me and my writing! What have you been up to lately? Any goals for March?

It happens almost every time. I write a book, and then wham! The Lord uses the very words *I* wrote to speak to me — at a much-needed time! I find it amusingly awesome. 🙂
For Befriending the Beast, the theme is one of hope, trust, and waiting. As I was editing it, I realized one scene that held a message that I needed.
“Did these roses bloom as soon as you and your mother planted them?” Percy’s voice was next to Belle. Without looking, she knew that he knelt beside her. “Or were you that impatient little girl, dragging her mama here every morn to search for buds?”
The tears finally emerged. Percy had watched her grow up. Of course he remembered those days of impatience.
“Did you stop watering and nurturing the rosebushes just because you didn’t see flowers?”
Belle shook her head and gave up on pretending to weed.
“Nay. Just like it takes time with flowers, it takes time for the Spirit’s work. And you cannot give up ‘watering and nurturing’ because things aren’t happening as quickly as you’d like them to.”
Wherever the Lord has you today, keep trusting in Him, waiting for Him, and following Him!
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Some more things for you to help me with! 🙂
1 – I’m thinking about doing a fun “Q&A” video as part of my book release for “Befriending the Beast.” I could think up a bunch of questions to ask, but why not have someone ask questions — you know, more “for real?” So, did you have any questions about “Befriending the Beast,” how I wrote it, got ideas, researched, anything?
2 – For one of my books, Alicia Ruggieri suggested doing discussion questions. I’ve just never been a step-ahead enough to do that, but I’d like to do them for “Befriending the Beast.” For those of you who have read it, what are some things that stood out to you that might be good for readers to discuss and really ponder?
When I first saw someone’s book trailer, I was like, “Okay, whatever.” But, I have to admit, this one was super fun to make! I’m really excited to share just one more glimpse of Belle’s story with you!
And now, going beyond my exuberance with my upcoming release, I’d like to hear from you: what is your favorite fairy tale retelling?
