Update

Hi everyone!!

It was last week sometime that I realize… I have so not been posting on here! *insert frantic face* I am SOOO sorry!!

If you want to stay most faithfully updated, I am active on my FB Street Team and Instagram. I know that I had originally started this blog as an “off-FB” type of street team… but it has been too hard to juggle all of my social accounts. My sincerest apologies.

So, this lovely Friday afternoon, I shall update you all!

Slippers is in the midst of a cover reveal!! Here’s the latest…

Cover reveal 08

Each puzzle piece reveal had a quote to go with it, so either look on my blog or Instagram to see them all!

I’m about to sit down at do some serious last-edit stuff with Slippers. I don’t have a specific release date yet.

Also on the writing…

I’ve got a March goal!

March 2017 writing intro

This, I’m daily (or mostly daily) updated on Instagram or FB. As of last night, I’m at 3436 of 7500! So grateful to the Lord for allowing me writing time! Oh yeah, what project? Sorry… you can’t know yet. 😉

Also on my desk is Journey of Choice. I set it aside for a few months and read a few books about how to write a NOVEL (who knew? It’s way different than writing a novella). I was going to focus on it for March, but then I remembered Slippers. That’s kind of important to get out there soonish. 😉

So, that’s me and my writing! What have you been up to lately? Any goals for March?

Journey of Choice 012

If you’re subscribed to my writing newsletter, then you know that nope, I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year. 🙂 I haven’t done it yet, actually, as Novembers tend to be super busy for our family. BUT… I am going to try really hard to get 20,000 words done in Choice. Already I’m lagging a little behind and need to step it up. Prayers really appreciated as I’m in the home-stretch!

What is one of your favorite things about the Civil War era?

Journey of Choice 011

Time for more quotes! One of the things that I “dreaded” the most about writing Choice was the battle scenes. I’m not so sure I’m doing a swell job with the rough draft, but it’s coming. In fact… I think I like writing fighting scenes!

The following quote about the Hornet’s Nest is true history. A regiment is supposed to be 1,000 men. From what I’ve researched, The 18th Missouri never really reached full strength. But after the Hornet’s Nest, there were only about 300 men left in the regiment who were not killed or captured.

*spoiler alert* Yes, one of my characters that is close to Nat ends up captured by the confederates in this chapter! 🙂

Journey of Choice 010

Before I share more quotes, I just have to say, y’all are an amazing encouragement! I’ve not really shared many WIP’s as I go along… there is the pressure of people wanting me to finish this, and I’m just trusting in God to help me reach “the end.” 🙂 In the meantime, enjoy another glimpse of Nat’s life, and thank you for your encouragement and excitement!!

Yeah, I’m liking Zeke and Nat’s relationship. Kind of an antagonistic type of love. And then, let me introduce you to one of my top favorite characters. This guy is loosely inspired by my younger brother, Samuel. 😉

And another character who “popped up” there is Gregory. He’s not a favorite of mine, but he serves a purpose, so he needs some room to shine.

The following quote is between Grits and Camden. Those two… I envision their relationship and am hoping to get that idea clearly on paper.

Journey of Choice 008

I haven’t been doing so well keeping this blog updated. My apologies.

Right now, I’m back to focusing on writing Journey of Choice.  I’ve had some rough days, but God has been so very gracious in helping me get past those and I’m making good progress once again.

For those of you who like stats, here are a few:

  • I’m at a little over 24,000 words
  • I just started chapter 14
  • I have no clue what my “goal” word count or chapter count is. 😉
  • I’m really liking side-characters Camden and Grits 😉

Now for some quotes. Some of these I’ve already shared on here, but they’re improved — in graphic form. 😉 These are also going backwards from chapter one (I know, some of you have already read excerpts up to chapter six; bear with me!)

Create a Company with Me!

Help create company

I need help with something fun! I have decided that, for my Civil War story (aka, “Journey of Choice”), I will create my own company to be in the 18th Missouri regiment. This means I need 100 men (I probably won’t mention them all by name, but I need to know of them as an author, right?). And I have four. 😉 I feel very dry when it comes to thinking up SO many names, so I’m asking you: what are some Civil War-era names? First and last. Shoot away!!!
