B&W with Color | Photoshop tutorial

Here is one look that I recently tried in my editing:

I showed it to a friend and she was interested in knowing how it was done. This is SO easy!
For this tutorial, I’m using Photoshop Elements 6.0 (due to some computer issues, I’m back down to an older version for now).

First, open your image in Photoshop.

Duplicate the layer.

If you’d like, name your new layer.

Be sure your top layer is selected.

Then go to “Create.” Here, you want to lower the saturation to be none (under “Color”).

Go back to your main editing window. Select the eraser. Again, be sure you’re on the top layer (Black and White layer). Now, erase away! You are erasing away the black and white picture and the color picture underneath will show.

Told you it was easy!! πŸ™‚

Next week, look for a couple of more pictures from this photoshoot. πŸ™‚

"Be Ye" (part 1 of 2)

“Be Ye” – Commands for God’s Children
A couple of days ago, I was reviewing some memory verses and found the phrase “be ye” in a few verses. I thought it would be interesting to do a study and see how many times we are commanded to “be ye.”Β Some of these commands were given to specific people for specific instances, but I believe that we can still apply these commands as believers.
1) Be ye fruitful
And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein. Genesis 9:7
2) Be ye holy
Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 20:7
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1 Peter 1:15
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:16
3) Be ye mindful of His covenant
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations; 1 Chronicles 16:15
4) Be ye strong

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Proverbs 8:5
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17
6) Be ye saved
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:22
7) Be ye clean
Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord. Isaiah 52:11
8) Be ye glad
But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. Isaiah 65:18
9) Be ye ashamed (for those who have neglected God’s work)
Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished. Joel 1:11
10) Be ye perfect
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
11) Be ye wise as serpents, harmless as doves
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16
12) Be ye ready for Christ’s return
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:44
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. Luke 12:40
13) Be ye merciful
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luke 6:36
Β 14) Be ye transformed (by the renewing of your mind)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 1 Corinthians 4:16
Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1
16) Be ye children in malice
Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 1 Corinthians 14:20
17) Be ye steadfast
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
18) Be ye reconciled to God
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22
25) Be ye patient
Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. James 5:8
26) Be ye all of one mind
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 1 Peter 3:8
27) Be ye sober
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 1 Peter 4:7
Commands for the children of Israel
(which can also be applied to those of us following God in our journey)
1) Be of good courage
And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes. Numbers 13:20
Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; Joshua 23:6

Word Wednesday #44

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.Β (1 John 5:12)
Today we like to say, “You haven’t livedΒ until you’ve done (or tried) _______.” Of course, that is just a saying. But the truth is: we have not livedΒ until we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

Share a verse that God has given you today or copy the button if you’d like to join in Word Wednesdays with your blog!

Debt of Mercy

Last week, I asked for help in titling a short work of fiction that the Lord allowed me to write. This week, several people worked together to help me create a title!
I now announce:

Lord willing, in a day or two I’ll have something exciting to announce about writing!

The Armor of God – FAITH | Ephesians Study

Ephesians 6:16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Already, the armor has contained truth, righteousness, and the gospel of peace. But above all, we are to have the shield of faith. It reminds me of some notes from my study of Ephesians 4:27 (“Neither give place to the devil.”):
Ephesians 6:16, “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Faith quenches the devil’s darts. If we are bowing down under the weight of his attack, perhaps we should cry out to God to increase our faith.
1 Peter 5:8-9 is not the next passage in this context, but applies to Ephesians 6:16, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
Again, the attack of the devil is linked to our faith. We are to resist (oppose, stand against) while stedfast in the faith. If we are not steadfast in faith, we have no shield by which to resist.
Faith in God is a gradual process. We begin by faith for salvation:
“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:28)
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” (Romans 5:1)
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16)
“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3:11)
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” (Galatians 3:24)
“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”(James 2:24)
Then, we add to our faith for justification by living by faith:
“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:38)
Do we have the shield of faith? Have we accepted Christ as our Savior?
And then, if we have that shield, is it still in front of us, protecting us fully? or have we let it slip down a little because we are now living as carnal believers?

Faith – NT:4102 pistis (pis’-tis); from NT:3982; persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:

R | Photoshoot

I’ve not been posting photoshoots recently because, due to my dad’s request, we’ve been trying to figure out what works. Here we are at the return of photoshoots! There will be several fewer pictures – but enjoy nonetheless!

In January, I enjoyed doing a photoshoot with R. I loved how everything pulled together with the style of her outfit and the setting!
