Word Wednesday #15

“Blessed are they that keep His testimonies,
and that seek Him with the whole heart.”
(Psalm 119:2)
It is not enough to merely read God’s Word — we must do it, we must seek God undistracted and then follow Him!
Then shall I not be ashamed,
when I have respect unto all Thy commandments.”
(Psalm 119:6)

Word Wednesday #14

“I have refrained my feet from every evil way,
that I might keep Thy Word.”
(Psalm 119:101)
Or would we rather say, “I have refrained my feet from Thy Word, that I might keep my evil way?” If we are true followers of God’s Word, then His Word will keep us from the route of the world.

“Blessed are they that keep judgment,
and he that doeth righteousness at all times.”
(Psalm 106:3)

Word Wednesday #13

“O send out Thy light and Thy Truth:
let them lead me;
let them bring me unto Thy holy hill,
and to Thy tabernacles.
Then will I go unto the altar of God,
unto God my exceeding joy:
yea, upon the harp will I praise Thee,
O God my God.”
(Psalm 43:3-4)

God sends His light and truth, we must allow their guidance in our lives, and when they lead to God’s altar and sacrifice, we will be able to go, trusting in and praising God.

Word Wednesday #12

“Shew me thy ways, O Lord;
teach me Thy paths.
Lead me in Thy Truth, and teach me:
for Thou art the God of my salvation;
on Thee do I wait all the day.”
(Psalm 25:4-5)

Word Wednesday #11

“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Thy Word.” (Psalm 119:114)
“Uphold me according unto Thy Word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.” (Psalm 119:116)

Are we ashamed to hope in God’s Word? Do we hold to it only until we are challenged and then say, “But . . .” as if we are ashamed of God’s Word?

Word Wednesdays #10

“And now, Lord, what wait I for?
my hope is in Thee.”
(Psalm 39:7)

“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man,
in whom there is no help.
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth;
in that very day his thoughts perish.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in the Lord his God:”
(Psalm 146:3-5)

If only we could grasp these verses: my happiness comes by hoping in God. But how often am I hoping, waiting, and expecting to find happiness in something (or someone) else?

Word Wednesdays #8

“For His merciful kindness is great toward us:
and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever.
Praise ye the Lord.”
(Psalm 117:2)

“Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good:
sing praises unto His Name; for it is pleasant.”
(Psalm 135:3)

“O give thanks unto the Lord;
for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.”
(Psalm 136:1)
Five reasons to praise and thank God:
     ~His merciful kindness is great towards us
     ~His truth endures forever
     ~He is good
     ~It is pleasant
     ~His mercy endures forever

Word Wednesdays #7

“But I will hope continually,
 and will yet praise Thee
more and more.”
(Psalm 71:14)

Even when everyone seems against me. Even in dark, discouraging days. Even when this world is turning to satan. Even . . . in all situations. Nothing should lessen my hope and praise of God.

Word Wednesdays #6

“I will freely sacrifice unto Thee: I will praise Thy name,
O Lord; for it is good.”
(Psalm 54:6)

“I will praise the Name of God with a song,
and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
This also shall please the Lord
better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.”
(Psalm 69:30-31)

“I will . . . I will . . . I WILL . . . praise the Lord.” The Lord loves and treasures the sacrifice of praise above all other things we can offer. What is holding me back from freely sacrificing to God?
