Abraham loved God enough to obey Him…above his only son. Yet how often do I struggle to obey God when it means sacrificing my dreams and projects for just a short time? Abraham obeyed, unable to see the future. Yet I like to balance the pros and cons before maybe, possibly, obeying. Oh Lord, help me to have a heart more dedicated to following You!!

We are just to be faithful to God and obey Him.

We like to ask God for more of His might and power…but when have we asked Him for more of His Spirit?

Habakkuk 1:12
A reminder of Who God is, and how He is at work in every aspect of life. Things do not accidentally slip by His notice, but He allows things to happen for our judgment and correction.

A reminder that our actions and choices affect others–and that others very well may suffer for our decisions. However…God could turn around the effects of our choices to where He is glorified: “Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.” Jonah 1:16

Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.  Hosea 10:13
Read backwards: “because didst trust in thy way, ye have plowed wickedness, reaped iniquity, eaten the fruit of lies.” It is rooted in trusting in our own way–not God’s way.

Word Wednesday #85

But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.  Hosea 1:7

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.  Psalms 20:7

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.  Psalms 71:16
Reminder after reminder of having the Lord as our strength, the Lord as our “weapon.”
