Okay, so it’s just time when musicians start thinkingย of that most-wonderful time of the year. ๐ I’m hoping to stock up on Christmas arrangements at WAJN but I need some suggestions. So…
Go Tell It On the Mountain! That's one of my favorites It helps that the Hymnworks Christmas album paired it with a really delightful classical piece.)O Come All Ye Faithful has all the comfort of Christmas, and Joy to the World the rejoicing of Christmas. O Come, O Come Emmanuel has a beautiful, haunting feel to it, and Silent Night is just calm. I'd better stop. =DLiberty Bluebelle\”For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.\”(Oh, the music for this verse is nice too. Handel, I think…)
Oh, can I say just any and all? I love Christmas music! But \”O Come, O Come, Emmanuel\” \”God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen\” and \”Huron Carol\” are some of my favorites. ๐
@ Ryana – ah, such a great list! ๐ I'm hoping to arrange some of those this fall!@ Liberty – \”For Unto Us a Child is Born!\” I was JUST thinking about doing a piano arrangement of that. I wonder if it's been done before? (I imagine so… I just like to think that I'm the creative one ๐ ) Great list and analysis of the music–so true!@ Sharon – those are both beautiful ones!@ Darcy – haha! So very true!! ๐ There are many beautiful ones!@ Paula – thanks for the suggestions! Those all have such great melodies!@ Kayla – yeah… love them all too. ๐ \”Sweet Little Jesus Boy\” is a newer-known one for me. It's so beautiful!@ Susan – yes, it is so hard to stick to one favorite for all time!! ๐
HI Amanda,I really like Hark the Hearald Angel Sing and Did you Hear What I Hear? That would be great if you could make them duets for advanced piano students. ๐ I have never played Did you Hear What I Hear, but would love to. It seems like it could be such a fun song to play. :)Love,Ashley
@ Ashley – those are two good ones! I've been thinking about doing more duets. ๐ We shall see!@ R. Franklin – Born to Die as in Ron Hamilton's? Love that one!
Handel's \”Messiah\” has my favorite Christmas music (\”For Unto us a Child is Born\”, \”Glory to God in the Highest\”). I also like \”Hark! the Harald Angel Sings\”, \”Joy to the World\” (heart eyes!), \”Good Bless ye Merry Gentlemen\”, \”I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day\”. . .~Katja L.

Mary Did You Know is my current favorite. I like most Christmas carols, so it changes from time to time.
